CryptWatch

Data, API and MCP

Everything on this site is available as JSON, CSV, SVG or PNG. No key, no registration. Please stay under 60 requests per minute per IP, send a User-Agent with a contact address, and name the source: “Data: CryptWatch, based on CoinMarketCap”. Reselling the raw data as a service of its own is not allowed; that is a CoinMarketCap condition we pass on.

MCP for AI assistants

Read-only tools over Streamable HTTP, same data and same limits as the API. Every answer names its date and source so the assistant can cite it. Tools: search_coins, get_coin, get_coin_history, get_movers, get_snapshot, get_graveyard, get_year_end_prices.

# Streamable HTTP, read-only, no key
Try: “Which coins fell out of the top 100 in 2025 and where are they now?”

Fair use

Everything on CryptWatch is free to use: pages, charts, icons, downloads, the API and the MCP endpoint. There is no key and no registration. To keep it fast for everyone, we ask for a few things.

Limits

  • 60 requests per minute per IP address on /api and /mcp, with a short burst of up to 30. Above that you get 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header. Wait that many seconds and continue.
  • Send a User-Agent that names your tool and a contact address, for example my-tool (you@example.com). If something goes wrong, we can tell you before we block anything.
  • For complete data sets, use the bulk downloads (CSV, JSON, the icon ZIP) instead of crawling the API one coin at a time. They are rebuilt after every import.
  • Respect ETag and Cache-Control. A repeated request with If-None-Match costs nothing when the data has not changed.

Attribution

Name the source where you show the data: “Data: CryptWatch, based on CoinMarketCap”. A link to https://cryptwat.ch is welcome.

What is not allowed

Reselling the raw data, or offering it as a data service or API of your own, is not allowed. The data comes from CoinMarketCap, and their terms do not permit it; we pass that condition on. Using the data as part of your own app, article, research or tool is fine, as long as the data is not the product itself.

Coin logos belong to their projects. Use them to show which coin you mean, not to suggest that a project endorses you.

Higher limits

Need more? Write to api@cryptwat.ch with your use case and the IP addresses you query from. A higher limit is usually a single line in our configuration.

No warranty, no advice

The data is provided as it is, without warranty. It can be incomplete, late or wrong, and the service can change or pause. Nothing here is investment, financial or tax advice. Year-end prices in CHF use the year-end rate published by the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (ESTV); check the official list before you file.
