Privacy
The short version: no cookies, no tracking, no ads, no account, no requests to other companies. The server keeps an access log for seven days to fend off abuse, then deletes it.
Who is responsible
oerli GmbH, Maiwaldstr. 9, 77855 Achern, Germany (see the imprint). Questions about your data: hello@cryptwat.ch. No data protection officer is required for a company of our size; the management answers these requests itself.
What we do not do
- We set no cookies.
- We use no analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting and no advertising.
- Your browser makes no requests to third parties when you use this site. Scripts, styles, fonts, images and icons all come from our server. The site uses your system fonts.
- We do not sell, rent or pass on data to anyone.
What stays in your browser
The light or dark theme and a few view settings are saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This is not a cookie, nothing is sent to us, and it only remembers your choice on this device. That is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to. You can remove it by clearing the site data in your browser.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours writes an access log. Each entry contains the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the status code, the size of the response, the referring page and the browser's User-Agent. We use the log only to keep the service running and to detect and block abuse, for example an address that sends far more requests than the fair-use limit. Log files are deleted automatically after 7 days. We do not combine them with other data and do not build profiles.
The rate limit of the API counts requests per IP address in the server's memory. Nothing of it is stored beyond the log above.
Embedded charts and icons
If another website embeds a CryptWatch chart or icon, your browser loads that image from our server. The same access log applies; we receive the address of the embedding page as referrer.
If you write to us, we use your message and address to answer you and keep the conversation only as long as needed for that.
Where the data is processed
The server is our own and stands in a data centre in Germany. No other service processes data about visitors.
Data source
Market data and coin logos come from CoinMarketCap. We fetch them on our server; your browser never contacts CoinMarketCap through this site.
Your rights
This site is operated by a German company and is subject to the GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). The legal basis for the access log is our legitimate interest in a secure, working service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); for email it is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Write to hello@cryptwat.ch. Because logs are deleted after 7 days and contain no names, we usually hold nothing that we could link to you. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one of the German state in which we are based.
